Spring Styling

Nautical overload. But I like.

Bag: Isaac Mizrahi for Target (from a million years ago)/ Skirt: SONIA by Sonia Rykiel/ Shoes: Lacoste (for men) - yes, yes, I have big feet. Thank god men have become so much more fashionable and effeminate (I say this with love and affection) these days. And oh! What I'd do to get my hands on a pair of spiky Loubi-dudes.

365 #23 (minus 9) 恭喜发财

Hihihi. It's the first day of Chinese New Year today, and the number that's supposed to be on my 365 title isn't a very lucky number. So since I am so far away from home and have decided to compensate by sticking to improvising on tradition like a superstitious (but cool) grandmother, I changed the original and put in a bunch of very auspicious sounding numbers instead: In Cantonese, 23 sounds like 'easy to live' (易生) and 9 sounds like 'long' (久) as in long life.

Coincidentally, 23 also sounds like 'sashimi' (鱼生) and I had that for brunch today. For more luck, I also ordered a mango sashimi maki topped with peanuts because peanuts, to me, also sounds lucky and in writing, is pretty: 花生, literally meaning 'flowery life'. Then, to ensure more prosperity, I ordered some dumplings, often eaten during Chinese New Year too, because they look like gold nuggets. Phew! THAT should cover the wealth bit for me this year. But for added security, I will go look for some pineapple tomorrow, because in Cantonese, it sounds like 'wealth come' (旺来).

I also used this Chinese New Year as an excuse to shop (please ignore this post) and decked the hubs and me in new clothes from head to toe, in and out. Very bright, very prosperous-like. :))

And then, because we had to make do are modern like that, I also got my unmarried brothers and sisters to wish us all the most awesomest wishes in the world via FaceTime, and gave them their AngPows through my very Super Mummy. And tomorrow, since it is traditionally the day when the married daughters return home, we'll have another round of wishing and angpow giving. My brother and sisters are very lucky kiddos, so I have a very good feeling all their very cool wishes to us are gonna come true.

When I become a happy millionaire this year, don't say I didn't share my success secrets ah. :p

Paparazzi is back

It is officially HOT these days.

22 degrees celcius. In Luxembourg, that's major.

Even when it rains, it's warm. I'm melting. Sweat. Sweat. Sweat. Growl. Sweat. Sweat. Sweat. Headache. Sweat. Mumble. Grumble. Sweat.

Die. I'm going to become one of those annoying people who go back to Malaysia and say, "Gawd, it's so hot here, I dunno how people can stand to live in this heat."  ^__^

The good thing is, though, that summer dressing is my favorite of all the seasons. All kinds of colors come out, and the whole city is filled with light and life. Here's what I wore the other day:

ASOS dress.
Zara shorts.
Brooch from Beijing market.
Blinged out slippers from Bangkok.
Longchamp Le Pliage bag.
Coach shades.
Tiffany & Co necklace.
Cheap hoop earrings from Shanghai market.

Paparazzism continues

So, I think I might have found my fave way of taking pictures of myself.

This time, I got Super Hubs in the shots, and we had quite some fun pretending to be super stars being attacked by paparazzi.

But before I go to our very perasan pictures. Let me share what the world's corniest (and sweetest also la) husband suggested we get when we went into town yesterday.

Made by this dude.

Mine.

Ours.

Feel the love goosebumps from your head to the tips of your fingers anot? :p
Okie. Back to my new form of photography. Ya think I could start a trend with this?

I am my very own Paparazzi

These weeks have been both wonderfully beautiful and incredibly gut wrenching. That's how the best times of life sometimes is, isn't it?

For the past three years now, Spring has always brought very strong gusts of winds of change to my life.

And year after year, the changes bring me further from who I was and closer and closer to who I really am.

As of now, the winds are blowing really hard again. In all directions. Messing up my hair.

But this time, I promise to not be scared, raise the alarms, and cry wolf.

This time, I'm ready. With a huge, goofy, smile.

Bring it on.

After all, wind-swept, messed up hair is always sexiest, isn't it?

Born to be wild

Not really.

But I've had that song in my head all day. So it has to come out somewhere.

Today, while Super Hubs was busy with his cooking class, I went a-visiting. First to the weekly market, then to a friend's house, then to the hospital.

And so I had no photographer. But I (think) I looked really quite cute today. So, what else could I do but camwhore in the middle of the street so I could show-off share my wild side here.

Trigger happy hubby

So today we went on a romantic walk to town for lunch. Just the two of us.

Hubby, who I normally have to beg to take pictures of me suddenly decided he liked the feel of the camera in his hand today. And he also demanded that I showcase his 'works of art' here. I of course am obliging because I look quite cute in some of the pics.

14 years old

As you know now from my recent posts, I have become weather obsessed. I refresh the weather.com bookmark button on my dashboard so often, you'd think that I think that the forecast would change from minute to minute.

Anyway. I digress. Those sentences were just a prelude to my announcement: THE SUN IS OUT! THE WEATHER IS GREAT! :) :) :)

The best thing about the awesome possum weather is that we're back to going on long romantic walks, and sitting on cafe and restaurant terraces as we people watch behind our oversized-shades.

And I digress again. The point of this post is about what I'm wearing these days, and a recent miracle find.

white tee: petit bateau

I feel obliged to share (because I am not-so-secretly proud of) the fact that I am wearing the teens size of this french brand, aged 14. Wheeeee! All you other teeny-tinier-perfect-bodied fellow asians: HUSH!!!! I know how small you peeps are! And that some of you may even fit into 10-year old tees. But you must understand that I've always been 'bigger-sized' than every single person my age since I was 12, being slightly overweight and standing at 174cm. So to be at the ripe old age of 31, and suddenly being able to wear kids clothes is a dream come true. *standing proud and sucking in tummy*

But I digress yet again. I just wanted to share that these tees are a dream to wear. Beats every single other tee I've ever had the misfortune to buy and wear.  I have a feeling I will yet again be obsessive compulsive and try to buy out every single shop of its stock and end up with a drawerful of white P.B tees.

I also bought some for Super Mi - cos she's always been sized like a 14 year old. Mi ah, I got you the same size as me cos I know you like your tees not so skin tight, and 16 year old for the camisole, because they were out of 14s :) Happy anot? :p

Gold

A couple of days ago, I read this on KBF's blog, and while I haven't personally read the book yet, was deeply moved by the paragraph she highlighted in her post.

So beautiful, I need to share it here.

Gold can be found everywhere if you look for it… sprinkled by sunlight on clear water… in the evening sky and the coming of each new dawn. It falls like scattered coins on the forest floor and gilds the leaf of every tree; glitters on every blade of grass after the rain and turns each dewdrop into a precious jewel. You will find gold in kindness; it can be found in the seeking of happiness and in helping others. Try to find your fortune among these things, collect what you can of this real gold, and one day you will be quan-jin

So nice, right?

I am quan-jin :)

Hermit in Luxembourg

I know talking about the weather is not very original nor particularly interesting. But my life revolves around it so much I can't help it. I now REALLY understand how weather-chat is an ice-breaker.

Here are some lines anyone visiting Luxembourg can use to chat up with a stranger.

----

"Gosh! It's cold today, innit?" *accompanied by vigorous shudder*
"Did you know it was -3 last night?" *shake head woefully*
"The cars are frozen over!" *sucked in breath, with hand covering mouth*
"It's only October, and people already have to wear down jackets and mittens and hats?!?" *wide-eyed disbelief*
"I just wanna curl up in bed and not get out" *sulky pout or flirty wink depending on marital status*

----
 Grey grey everyday...

I'm becoming a hermit these days. I just want to lie on the sofa with super hubs and and vegetate. Going out is such a hassle, and worse, trying to breathe once I step out of the house is actually becoming physically painful.

6 more months of this &8§#!

----

Just checked weather.com and found out the temperatures are going up again. So this week's gonna be nice and warm-ish. 5 degrees! Yay!

----

Pretend young and act cute.
I find out when I'm out that my super real young bff Ella (aged 6 and a half), has the same outfit.
*so shy can die*
