Recap: Day 7 of GM Diet

Updates from yesterday, the last day of the diet (vege, fruits and rice day).

Ate: 2 bowls soup, 1 bowl rice, 2 apples, half a watermelon, 5 apricots, 4 peaches, some cabbage, some onions.

Drank: 3 mugs black coffee, 2.5 litres of water.

Activities: 20 minutes walk to and from yoga, 90 minutes yin yoga, 90 minutes vinyasa yoga.

How I felt: Very, very, very good. So full of energy that I decided to do two sessions of yoga. Granted, yin is very relaxing, and not at all taxing.

When I woke up this morning, I weighed: 61.3kg (Sunday's nonsense finally caught up with me today)

So, in all, I've only lost 1.7kg, which tells you that cheating is a very, very, very bad idea!

Though as I said before, my weight is really of not too much consequence, because my tummy has subsided (albeit slightly), and in the past few days, I've been sweating twice as much during yoga classes - which I guess means that my toxins are being flushed away in greater amounts. So it's all good.

Here's a picture of the new tummy. Much better than here, no?

Oh, guess what I ate to 'break my fast' today?
*drum roll for the meals i have been looking forward to the entire week please*
Spinach omelet for brunch and soy sauce chicken on noodles for dinner.
Some cheese and peanut butter and crackers for lunch, an apple before my Ashtanga class, and chips for dinner. Why?!?!? Because the electricity of my entire neighbourhood was off for 8 whole hours!!! In 36°c heat!!! And my stove depends on the electricity to be alive!!! Grrrrr. And of course, the electricity just had to come back up at 9 freaking 30 PM, just as I stuff the last piece of the SECOND packet of chips in my mouth. *___*

Recap: Day 6 of GM Diet

Updates from yesterday, also known as the day I caved in to peer pressure at dinner and killed the diet.

Ate: 2 bowls soup (for breakfast & lunch). Then went stark crazy at dinner. Some turkish mezze, some olives, some bread (they came right out of the oven!) dipped in olive oil, a piece of cheese, beef carpaccio, sauteed prawns, some fries (THEY WERE FRESHLY MADE AND TOSSED IN TRUFFLE OIL, PARSLEY AND GARLIC!!! HOW TO SAY NO???).

Drank: 3 mugs black coffee, 2 litres of water, a flute of champagne (I know, I know, hopeless), a vodka tonic (it looks like water, no?!).

Activities: 30 minutes of own style yoga - stretching and sun salutations.

How I felt: Absolutely awesome. Though I must say the oily food didn't sit too well in my detox-ed system, and the alcohol worked it's way into my head a little bit quicker than usual. But I ate and drank what I did, had an incredibly joyful night, so no regrets there.

When I woke up this morning, I weighed: 60.3kg

I must say I'm happy to be back to healthier food today though. Mode: continue on diet plan, swish hair and pretend yesterday's transgressions didn't happen.

Recap: Day 5 of GM Diet

Updates from yesterday, the dreaded tomato and rice day.

Ate: 6 tomatoes, a cup of rice (uncooked, which equals to three small bowls of cooked rice), almost an entire pot of soup.

Drank: 3 mugs black coffee, 3 litres of water.

Activities: 20 minutes walk to and from yoga, 90 minutes Hatha yoga, 45 minutes ironing, 60 minutes wiping, vacuuming, mopping.

How I felt: Was about to give up, but persevered. That's it. Gritted my teeth and said "I can do it!" and proceeded to lie down for the rest of the evening and night.

When I woke up this morning, I weighed: 60.5kg

Tonight at dinner, I will need to deviate from the original plan because of social obligations. But will make an effort to order only salad and steak, thus following this version of the diet. Also will refrain from gulping down wine. THAT will be hard.

Recap: Day 4 of GM Diet

Listless updates from yesterday, which was bananas and milk day.

Ate: 5 bananas, a bowl of soup.

Drank: 3 mugs milk coffee, 2 banana milkshakes, 2 litres of water.

Activities: 20 minutes walk to and from yoga, 60 minutes Vinyasa yoga.

How I felt: Waning, waning. Crazy ass hunger pangs. Hallucinated about pizza and pasta and french fries and fried chicken. Stared at a bag of chips in the pantry like a parched warrior. Dragged myself to yoga, felt a little better, then went home and continued to torture myself with pictures of food on pinterest. I just want a simple omelet, dammit! I never want to eat another banana, ever. Tried to sleep at midnight but tossed and turned till 2am because my stomach was screaming too loudly.

When I woke up this morning, I weighed: 61.4kgs. WTH?!?!? All that pain for 0.5kg gain????

Today is tomato and rice day. I hope I don't faint.

Recap: Day 3 of GM Diet

Hello! Here are the updates from yesterday, which was vegetables and fruits day.

Ate: half a watermelon, a whole cantaloupe, a bowl of soup, an apple, a carrot, a kilo of cherries.

Drank: 2 mugs black coffee, 2 cups green tea, 3 litres of water.

Activities: 20 minutes walk to and from yoga, 90 minutes Ashtanga yoga.

How I felt: Thought this day would be easier, but felt really weak and listless by the middle of the afternoon despite filling up on lots of melons which made my tummy expand crazily. Almost decided to not go for yoga and stay glued to the sofa, but thank god the class was taught by one of my favorite teachers who only does two classes a week, so I managed to summon some willpower, peel myself off my seat, grab a huge apple and went resolutely. Thank god I did, because it was one of the most amazing classes I ever had. Sweated like a cow, still can't touch my toes without bending my knees, but walked out of there feeling like a new woman.

Learnt:
1. Sometimes the things that you resist the most are the best for you.
2. Having a good, kind, gentle and firm teacher is a priceless gift.
3. An apple snack right before an intense workout session gives you the most awesome burst of energy you could ever wish for.
4. Breathing properly is so important.

When I woke up this morning, I weighed: 60.9kgs.

Today is bananas and milk day.

Definitely exactly as it should be

*random recent fave picture of me giving a toast because this post deserves 3 cheers*

I just realized that if I were asked how I would spend every single day of my life if I had all the money in the world, my answer would be: Exactly, exactly, exactly how I spend my days right now. Living in an exotic country, married to the most perfect man for me, having internal (and sometimes audible) debates on what to eat and wear, planning and going on holidays, playing host to loved ones who visit, having all the time in the world to go for yoga classes every single day, reading, writing, loving, laughing. Spending my days trying out ways to be best me I can be.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for the life of my dreams. I am truly blessed.

Recap: Day 2 of GM Diet

So following up from here and here, updates on yesterday, which was Vegetable Day.

Ate: 1 huge boiled potato, 2 bowls of soup, 4 little cucumbers, 10 cherry tomatoes, 3 big carrots + a vegetable stew of kimchi (thanks mummy), green chili, green peppers, cabbage, carrots, tomatoes and soya sprouts.

Drank: 2 mugs black coffee, 1 mug ginger tea, 2.5 litres of water.

Activities: 1 hour walk around the neighbourhood, 90 minutes of Yin yoga.

How I felt: Surprisingly well. Though I did get pins and needles in my feet during my Yin yoga session. I wonder what it is, because I never get it usually. Back at home, and after my 3 bowls of vegetable stew, I was still craving some sugar like crazy, so I popped cherry tomatoes and gnawed on carrot sticks. I cannot stress on how important it is to always have the proper snacks on hand. Like they say, the only way this diet will work is if you're never ever feeling hungry or deprived.

When I woke up this morning, I weighed: 61.4kgs.

Today is vegetable AND fruit day. YAY!!!!!!!! I'm smiling, with my huge bowl of cantaloupe beside me, and the thought of the kilo of cherries sitting in my fridge prettily.

Recap: Day 1 of GM Diet

So following up from here, updates on yesterday, which was Fruit Day.

Ate: 1 whole watermelon, half a cantaloupe, 1 prune, 5 apricots, 2 bowls of wonder soup.

Drank: 3 mugs black coffee, almost 3 litres of water.

Activities: 20 minute walk to and from yoga, 90 minutes of Ashtanga yoga.

How I felt: Perfectly good, until one hour into yoga, when I felt slightly weak and needed to pee desperately. Slept a little earlier than usual. Was not cranky or angry. For someone who scoffs down as much chips and rice and ice cream and instant noodles as she can take on a daily basis, I felt really really good, with no major cravings or withdrawal symptoms at all.

When I woke up this morning, I weighed: 61.7kgs.

Today is vegetable day. Oh lordie.

7 days

So I've been really, really into yoga lately. I love my classes, and am slowly inching towards touching my toes without bending my knees.

The only problem is that after classes, I get incredibly hungry. And after some days of excruciating pain in class, which I attribute to eating (red) meat the day before, a couple of weeks ago, I decided to limit my diet to lots of rice, pasta and noodles, with veges and fruits. Which leads to another problem rooting in the fact that I eat a lot. Think 3 (BIG) bowls of rice per meal kind of a lot, which has kinda led me to being kinda gutted, pun intended (see pic below, taken just minutes ago).
Okay, so maybe this tummy is not just the result of the innocent rice and pasta consumed in buckets lately. I might also admit that in May and June I kind of went overboard with indulging myself when mummy and pouts were here and when I went home for a holiday. But lets not dwell on how I got fat - since that's wayyyyy too easy. Here, we'll deal with getting better and fitter, and how I get myself the bikini body that I want to achieve by September.

So, to begin with, today I'm starting a 7 day detox program which has worked for me before and has worked for many of my loved ones. Click here for diet plan.

The goal: Have a fit, flat tummy
Start weight as of 17 July 2012: 63kgs (Yes, I definitely am no lightweight. But I have no complexes about how much I weigh. I just want to look strong and lean. Oh, and in case you're wondering, I am 174cm, which puts my BMI at the perfectly average 21.3)

So far, I've eaten almost half a watermelon, and feeling mighty good about myself. Tomorrow, I will share how much I weigh, and what I ate, did and felt today.

Laters!
